This blanket was gifted to an old hippy who needed a boost during a long hospitalization. She loved the colors and said every time she looked at it she felt peace thinking of her home down the south coast and watching the whales swim past from her window.
She said it is going to motivate her to get home .

We had another wonderful working bee today!Β πΒ Thank you to all the GOGs who came, everyone who donated Goodies, and as always the lovely Goodeze who give their time to make this group so successful! We had a fantastic turn out and an abundance of Goodeze and yarn donated.Β πΒ From knitting to crocheting, to getting tangled in yarn, we all worked successfully over laughs and wonderful stories! Keep an eye out for the next Working Bee, and we hope to see you there!Β πππ
One of the things I love about the group is the commitment to sharing techniques and tips … – Barbara

Grateful for the head warming red and white beanie for a patient that made it thru the op, and thru the night…..
Pale but looking almost pink with the beanie on.
Am always struck the effect of the beanies, not only for warmth, but for their effect on me : There lies a unique human being.
Placing a hat on a patient, particularly if they are bald always moves me. And as a nurse there is something profound about covering a cold naked head in a very, very ill person. …. something about an act of hope that almost puts them on the living side of the line……
…… passing on the love to the lovely GOGS. – Tess
As a Goodie, I think I grasp that. So important for us to keep putting love and care and LIFE into every stitch we create. This it’s why I appreciate Mary encouraging members to make what they love as opposed to working to a set agenda. – Amanda
Amanda make what you love.
It will always find it’s way to the right person. – Kath
I deliberated when choosing the βbest fitβ blanket for an incredible young man facing huge challenges. I looked for his football colours and βmanlyβ colours. I settled on a beautiful throw with pink as itβs central colour π€. Unnecessarily nervous with my choice of colour I approached the family. They were so grateful, βhe loves any colourβ.
Thank you for bringing colour to a beautiful soul deserving of colour. – Joe
Just some feedback from a grateful family who were very appreciative of the gift of this blanket which they will forever cherish.
Thank you GoGs for making a difference to the care we give. – Kath
It was lovely to meet up with Amy at the Donation Station in TCH recently to hand over the latest bundle of Goodies. We’re only half way through the year and already we’ve passed the number of blankets that were donated last year! Thank you to everyone who has gifted materials, Goodies or shared the word of GoG in some way! This couldn’t happen without you!Β ππππ»
So lovely to receive this heartfelt feedback yesterday from a family member of a patient in ICU via Carly Silberberg at TCH on the official ‘Customer and Carer Feedback Form’.Β πΒ Many thanks for passing this on Carly and thank you to all the wonderful staff at ICU who have supported GoG from the outset!Β π₯°Β Of course a huge thank you goes out to all you wonderful Goodeze for all you do to make such a positive impact on the journey of patients and their families at TCH!!Β

“My Dad was feeling confused, scared in addition to his pain. He was gifted a blue, grey and brown knitted blanket and they said it’s for him to comfort him. He has not stopped talking about it. This has definitely helped him tremendously; it has lifted his spirits and is so grateful for this generous and wonderful service. My family and I are also extremely thankful and happy. Would also like to add that all the staff including all Doctors and Nurses for their excellent care they have provided.”
What a great afternoon it was to be inside our ‘new home’ crafting and laughing away the afternoon when the temperature outside was below 10 degrees! π Yesterday’s Working Bee included a ‘fashion parade’ (thanks Vicki!), lessons in ‘Portuguese Knitting’ (thanks Zoe), wool winding (thanks Amanda) and crochet! Another thoroughly enjoyable day ladies! Thanks for coming along and making it lots of fun and so productive! ππ
Here’s a short video of the day. Β ππ
Today we held our second installment of Mindfulness In-Services at the Canberra Hospital ICU – Crochet for Mindfulness.
A huge thank you to the Goodeze who gave up their time to come in and pass on the art and joy of crochet and to the staff who took time out of their incredibly busy day to join us! π Also, special thanks goes to Kath and the ICU team for inviting us in once again to spend an enjoyable afternoon with an amazing team!
We hope that sharing these skills with you today will lead to hours of mindful relaxation and the joy that comes from being creative for yourself and others! ππ
On the 30th of June GoG moved into our new digs at the University of Canberra Hospital in Bruce! The following is a roundup of the day! π
There’s an advantage to being a member of GOG; you can share in a wonderful afternoon of chatting, creating and coffee in a very comfortable room at the University Hospital.π
Outside might have been cold and grey, but today GOG members were very warm while finishing projects and sharing creative ideas with each other at our inaugural Working Bee at UCH.
At the end of our session we were gifted several blankets, comfort toys, Gogsters, beanies and socks from our members. It was wonderful to see so many members, old and new and all of your amazing work! We continue to grow in strength because of your dedication and creativity and the generosity of those who support us in our endeavours. π
Thank you especially to Danielle from UCH for her assistance with arranging our new digs!
Goodeze one and all! π Goodeze …Goody, goody, yum, yum! ππππ
